- There are diff ways to interpret the clouds
- Cloud in relation to our emotion
- Cloud in relation to our sight, direct translation on how an image put in front of our eyes and being converted & display in retina.
- Cloud can be hear if we are patient to stay, we see different brightness of each pixel, and this value are being converted into sound.
- Technical: MAX/MSP, Sensor, Physical Computing
- Logic:
A) A cloud image is randomly selected from a pool of cloud images that I have taken throughout this year. The brightness value of each pixel from the image will be extracted, it will then translated into various music tone such as piano, drum, guitar, the pitch of the sound will be determined by the value. After all the pixel has been scanned, it will then loop again to select the image from the pool again and cycle restarts.
B) A sensor will be put in front of the projection, if a person step inside the sensor area, the music will be play (volume ON), while if the person stand out of the range, the music will NOT be play (volume OFF)
- Setup / Equipment: A computer with MAX/MSP installed, projector, Speakers
2) Mixed Media (Print, Photos, Text)
Symbol of 24/7 => implied everyday busy life in hK? or anyone without the chance to look up the sky. Well, an ironic display of artwork.
Execution: A series of cloud image will be displayed with 'photo taken date and place' in text, the individual cloud image will form the symbol of 24 / 7 inside a large frame.
=> This will be replaced the previous idea of a big poster with all the cloud image displayed.

1) When you expect the exhibition start? (I prefer end of this year / Jan-Feb time)
2) Let's discuss further during Sept on the execution, venue etc, but I think we need to have a concrete idea already by that time, cos' we need to start execute it. Pretty much I will base on the above which I like the idea v. much. I will fine-tune the concept in the meantime, and start to do the programming and execution on Oct, 2009
3) Both static and interactive work to be show in the exhibition, and fall into my leisure interest as photo, but also my research interest in interactivity. Both are the core elements during this year stay in UK.
let me know how you think on it.
soon,
ReplyDeleteI'd prefer December as I can have a Christmas holiday to work for the exhibition. If Jan and Feb,,, I am worrying I will be too busy and can't squeeze time for the set up,...... and, I think having our exhibition in 2009 will be better than 2010 as it got it's meaning for us!
I will be more focus on our project after this week, I was in hell recently ,,,,and after the end of the term, I will get back in shape again! Let's add oil! and I really love the photos from you! and thanks for the postcard!
